The Sun (November 2011) : Tune Hotel Ipoh set to open in March
BUDGET hotel chain Tune Hotels is set to open a hotel in Ipoh next March, bringing the total number of properties the company operates in Malaysia. An agreement was signed recently between Tune Hotels and property developer Liew Yin Yin Group to build a Tune Hotel that will be part of The Host commercial development on a site belonging to the Ipoh City Council. Located within the vicinity of the city centre, Tune Hotel Ipoh is 60% completed and is on track for the March opening. It will have 121 rooms. Ipoh Mayor Datuk Roshidi Hassan said the opening of Tune Hotel Ipoh will coincide with the Visit Perak Year campaign next year. “The establishment of Tune Hotel will not only escalate the growth of tourism in the state, but also help promote other relevant industries and businesses such as food and restaurants, travel and tours, handicraft, transport and many others,” he said at the signing ceremony. “The opening of Tune Hotel Ipoh is very much anticipated and it will give tourists and visitors a world class accommodation at affordable rates. It will be a catalyst for further development and increase the profile and reputation of the city.” Apart from Ipoh, Tune Hotels operates hotels in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, KLIA-LC CT Airport, Kota Kinabalu, Kuching, Iohor Baru, Kota Damansara, Bintulu, Kota Barn and Kulim. It also has two hotels in Bali and one in London.Tune Hotels group CEO Mark Lankester said 30 new Tune Hotels are scheduled to open over the next 15 months.

Tune Hotel to open in Ipoh in March

Ipoh will have another impressive landmark when value hotel chain, Tune Hotels Group, opens its new hotel in the city in March 2012. ‘ The hotel on jalan Veerasamy will be the group’s 11th property in Malaysia. In welcoming this new development, Datuk Bandar Datuk Roshidi Hashim said the state’s tourism industry would benefit from the opening of a Tune Hotel in Ipoh, more so with Visit Perak Year 2012 approaching.
“The opening of the hotel is very much anticipated. It will give tourists and visitors an option of premium accommodation at affordable rates,” Roshidi said after witnessing the signing of an agreement between Tune Hotels and the Liew Yin Yin Group in Ipoh last Friday.
Tune Hotels was represented by its chief executive officer Mark lankester while Don Liew Mun Hon signed on behalf of Liew Yin Yin. Lankester said Tune Hotels was looking forward to participating actively in the local travel and tourism scene. “We have always stated our aim of providing the most complete coverage for travellers and businesses within Malaysia and the establishment of Tune Hotel Ipoh is a further step in that direction,” he said.
Tune Hotel lpoh will have 121 rooms including 84 double rooms,36 twin rooms and one wheelchair friendly room. As an added convenience, especially for families with under aged children, interconnecting rooms are being introduced for the first time at its upcoming property in Ipoh.
